STAGES OF DRAWING

1.     Scribbling   (child experiments with moving a pencil and leaving a visual trail of that movement)

2.     Isolated lines (child experiments with simple control of lines)

3.     Circles  (child experiments with enclosed shapes, but does not have the motor control to start/stop the pencil or control sudden shifts in line direction)

4.     Shapes with round corners, combined shapes, T (child gains more control over changes in line direction and planning motor actions, child experiments with combining shapes and lines)

 5.     Shapes with sharp corners, figures with many body parts (child has gained more control over motor planning and can start/stop nearly exactly where they wish, they begin to experiment with combining different shapes)

 6.  Combined shapes, figures have clothes (children experiment with more complex representations, combining shapes and representing objects in a stereotypical manner)
